Scholars' Commons
Faculty looking for a place away from their offices for private reading and writing, collaboration and professional development can visit the Scholars’ Commons — a spacious room on the second floor of Roesch Library.
Card-accessible to faculty and doctoral students only, the Scholars’ Commons, Room 245, is designed for informal and impromptu use; however, it can be reserved and configured upon request for small scholarly or professional gatherings.
Amenities
- Six to seven lounge-type seating clusters
- Adjustable lighting
- Partitions
- Large monitors with laptop connections
- Movable whiteboards
- Floor-to-ceiling bulletin boards
Refreshments are available for purchase from the Blend (ground floor) and the Refuel Zone vending machines (first floor). Visitors are also welcome to bring their own refreshments.
Access and Reservations
The Scholars’ Commons is open during regular library hours. Reservations are not necessary, though hours may be restricted for planned events indicated on the calendar below.
Outside of scheduled events, the noise level in the Scholars' Commons should remain considerate to others who may be writing or reading. Groups may reserve team rooms for more active and vocal studying and collaboration.
For more information or to discuss reserving the space for an event, contact Erik Ziedses des Plantes.
