Attorney Kenneth Feinberg to Speak in Keller Hall

Prominent attorney Kenneth Feinberg will give a public talk, "Unconventional Responses to Unique Disasters," on Tuesday, March 22, in the Heck Courtroom.  Feinberg oversaw the U.S. government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and the Virginia Tech memorial fund and currently serves as the administrator of the BP oil spill compensation fund. The state of the U.S. patent system will be the featured topic during the next Scholarly Symposia Series on Current Issues in Intellectual Property Law, slated for Thursday, March 31, in Keller Hall. Law Professor F. Scott Kieff will discuss "Killing the Golden Goose: How Today's Innovations In the Patent System Are Harming Innovation Itself." More »


Community Service a Reminder Never to Take Blessings for Granted

Alumni Weekend is not just a time for graduates to celebrate their time at Dayton Law. They also honor their commitment to community with a special service project designed to put UD's Catholic-Marianist philosophy into practice. This year, volunteers will work on May 14 at Daybreak, a shelter for homeless and runaway youth. More »


Students Connect with Legal Community at Externship Fair

The Dayton Law Externship Office held its annual Externship Fair on February 3, providing more than 100 students the opportunity to interview for potential externships during the 2011-2012 academic year. Representatives of law firms, government agencies, courts and businesses participated in this year's fair. More »


Fundraiser Provides Chance to Say, "Be Mine"

The SBA Community Service Committee held raised $400 for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton during a Valentine's Day fundraiser. The committee sold carnations that a purchaser could then send to someone in the Dayton Law community. The carnations were donated by a family member of a member of the committee. More »

In Memoriam

Larry R. Bowling'88 died February 2, 2011, at the age of 60. Larry served as Magistrate for Clinton County Juvenile Court for 20 years and had recently retired due to health reasons and to spend more time with family.

He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He graduated from Wilmington College and from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he was a member of the Dayton Law Review. He was dedicated to the community and was active with the Blanchester School Board and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Wilmington.
