Judge Dennis Greaney '78 dies
Judge Dennis Greaney, a 1978 graduate and a member of the Dayton Municipal Court, died September 28 after battling cancer. He was 64.
A native of Dayton, he also received a B.A. from UD in 1969.
Greaney was elected to the court in 2004. He served as senior magistrate of the court for 18 years before his election. He previously was in private practice from 1978 to 1987.
He also taught at the Ohio Judicial College; was a member of the Municipal and County Judges Association of Ohio, the Dayton Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and American Judges Association; and a former member of St. Joseph Children's Treatment Center's Board of Trustees and the Dayton Mental Health Citizen's Advisory Board.
He told the Dayton Daily News in 2005 that he enjoyed working with those who come before the Municipal Court. "I simply love the law, and I love dealing with people," he told the paper.
