Make Plans to Attend Alumni Weekend
It's not too early to begin making plans to get together with classmates and reminisce and catch up during the 2010 Alumni Weekend. The 2010 UDSL Alumni Weekend will be held May 14-15 and will include the Alumni Awards Luncheon, a CLE program, community service opportunities and the Alumni Dinner.Alumni will be able to help UDSL students through a special auction raising funds that provide living expenses for selected students working in public interest law internships. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and the University, which provided matching funds, nine students received this stipend during 2009.
Alumni interested in donating items for the auction should contact Lee Ann Ross at 937-229-3793 or lee_ann.ross@notes.udayton.edu.
This year's Alumni Weekend festivities kick off with the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 14, at the Schuster Center in Dayton. The Distinguished Alumni Award and the Honorable Walter H. Rice Honorary Alumni Award will be presented during the luncheon. The Distinguished Alumni Award is given each year to a UDSL graduate who reflects the School's values of professional integrity and community service. The Walter H. Rice Award is presented to an individual who is not a graduate of UDSL, but who represents the ideals of the School through exemplary achievement.
The weekend festivities continue on May 15 with a CLE in Keller Hall. Three hours of CLE credit will be offered. The CLE includes the following presentations: "The Art of Persuasion: Using Pictures, Charts, Graphics & Videos in Your Legal Writing" by Adjunct Professor Ira Mickenberg; "Lawyers as Ethicists" by the Rev. Phillip Eichner, S.M.; and "Taxes & Estate Planning" by Professor E. Dale Searcy.
Also on the 15th, alumni and their families will have an opportunity to help others in Dayton by participating in a community service project at St. Vincent de Paul and the Men's Shelter.
That evening, the weekend concludes with special class receptions and an Alumni Dinner, in Keller Hall. Special receptions will be held for the Classes of '80, '85, '90, '95, '00 and '05. An all-class reception, for people not in those classes, will also be held. Free childcare is provided during the receptions and dinner.
Make Sure You Have a Seat at the Table
This year, alumni are encouraged to get together with their classmates and sponsor tables during the Alumni Dinner. Each table seats eight.
Everyone sitting at a sponsored table will be able to attend the alumni CLE program for free. Download the table reservation form.
