Application Information for LL.M. & M.S.L. Programs
Our LL.M. and M.S.L. Programs in American & Transnational Law focus on the American legal system and laws that transcend national boundaries. Graduate degrees are offered to both lawyers and non-lawyers from the United States and abroad:
- An LL.M. degree is available to those who have a J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and to international students who have earned a first degree in law in a foreign university.
- The M.S.L. degree is available to U.S. and international students who do not have a law degree.
LL.M. Requirements
Candidates for a Master of Law (LL.M.) degree are required to have a law degree from an accredited U.S. law school or from a foreign university authorized to confer such a degree by the government of the country in which it is located.
All candidates for the LL.M. degree must be fluent in the English language. International students may seek conditional admission and study English at UD's Intensive English Program.
Candidates will be evaluated for admission on academic and personal criteria, including law school and university transcripts, prior academic performance, standardized test performance, other academic records, employment experience and other personal accomplishments.
M.S.L. Requirements
Candidates for a Master in the Study of Law (M.S.L.) degree are required to have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or from a foreign university authorized to confer such a degree by the government of the country in which it is located.
All candidates for the M.S.L. degree must be fluent in the English language. International students may seek conditional admission and study English at UD's Intensive English Program.
Candidates must demonstrate competitive performance on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or some other similar test (except for Government Contracting students). Results from graduate admission tests administered by foreign countries or institutions may, in the discretion of the associate dean and the director of graduate programs, be considered in lieu of the above tests.
Candidates will be evaluated for admission on academic and personal criteria, including law school and university transcripts, prior academic performance, standardized test performance, other academic records, employment experience and other personal accomplishments.
