Online Hybrid J.D. Overview
The University of Dayton School of Law is proud to offer our J.D. program in an online hybrid format so that more students across the country can pursue their goal of becoming a lawyer.
Approved by the American Bar Association, the program features a practical curriculum that prepares practice-ready graduates to sit for the bar exam in most states.
During your four years as a student, you’ll experience our innovative approach to legal education as you attend weekly live, online classes; complete interactive online coursework; and visit us on campus for in-person learning experiences, known as Get REAL Intensives.
Online Hybrid Learning Experience
As a student in the Online Hybrid J.D. program, you’ll experience the richness of our supportive community through a combination of online and in-person experiences. You will be fully connected to the University of Dayton School of Law as you pursue your J.D. degree.
Discuss and debate cases and policies in depth during live, online classes
The online platform puts you face-to-face with peers and faculty, allowing you to fully experience the Socratic method, engage in collaborative learning with your classmates and receive instant feedback.
Deepen your understanding during on-campus learning sessions
With our online hybrid approach, you’ll visit the University of Dayton a total of 10 times while enrolled to network with faculty and classmates in person and to participate in simulation-driven classes designed to test your ability to use your knowledge of the law to solve client problems.
Engage through hands-on coursework that challenges you to connect what you know with what you need to know
You’ll have 24/7 access to interactive video classes, readings and other resources that build your knowledge of key legal doctrines.
Build your skills with co-curricular activities
As a student in our online hybrid program, you may have the opportunity to join our Mock Trial and Moot Court teams as well as our Law Review.
Postgraduate LL.M. Degree Program
We offer all Online Hybrid J.D. program graduates the chance to earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at no additional cost. The 30-credit LL.M. degree program can help you build expertise in a particular legal area, pursue specialized practice opportunities or simply explore additional areas of the law that may interest you.
Enter with advanced standing
Online Hybrid J.D. program graduates qualify for a variety of credit waivers and transfers, meaning they may only need to complete 12 credits total.

Eligibility requirements
Academic: You’ve earned a J.D.
Pacing: You’re able to complete all credits within two years of graduation.
Location: You’re able to attend some courses in person on campus.
