Exploring the Dayton Region
Welcome to Dayton!
Midwestern modesty aside: Dayton is one of the most underrated cities in America. Dayton is not only a hidden gem rich in history, culture and recreation, but the city's accessibility and range of activities are matched only by its affordability, which is a true advantage if you are a college student.
Check out Brown Street's row of restaurants and coffeehouses or the nightlife in the Oregon District. Listen to concert at City Folk or late night jazz at Gilly's. View an art house flick at the Neon Movies. Hop through local galleries or take in the exhibits at the Dayton Art Institute and the Dayton Visual Arts Center.
If the cultural stimulation you seek is sitting at the bottom of your shopping bag, try the Dayton Mall, the Mall at the Fairfield Commons or The Greene. Experience world-class performances at the Schuster Performing Arts Center and Victoria Theatre. Take off and enjoy the Air Force Museum.
Escape outside to bike or run along Dayton's many beautiful river bikeways and recreation trails, and its laser-lit riverfront park. Root, root, root for the Dayton Dragons, the local minor league affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. That is, if you can get tickets. Dragon's games have been cited as one of the toughest sports tickets to get in the country. And if you have a fix for major league baseball, and just about anything else, Cincinnati is less than an hour away and Columbus is 75 minutes away.
