Information will be updated as UD, local, national or international conditions change. This information is current as of June 12, 2022.
UD plans to offer mostly face-to-face courses in the 2022-2023 academic year. New and returning international students should plan to be on campus to take these courses.
In April 2022, SEVP announced the continuation of the most recent immigration guidance. These rules are in effect for the 2022-2023 academic year:
- Students who were in active* F-1 or J-1 status since March 9, 2020, and have continued to maintain status, are eligible to study entirely online.
- Students who started or resumed active* F-1 or J-1 status after March 9, 2020 are required to enroll in at least one credit or more of face-to-face or blended courses each term in order to maintain status. This applies to new students starting their studies in Summer 2022.
- All non-U.S. citizen, non-U.S. immigrants (this includes those in F or J status) traveling to the United States by air are required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and a negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 1 day before travel.
*To be considered in active status, a student must have been admitted to the U.S. in F-1 or J-1 status and continued to maintain status.

You must enroll in at least one credit of face-to-face or blended courses to maintain status. |

Intensive English Program students |
UNLIKELY. UD is offering primarily in-person course options and the IEP is following this policy. Therefore, IEP students will not have options for blended or fully remote course modalities except in rare cases or under extenuating circumstances. Contact the IEP directly at iep@udayton.edu for additional information regarding enrollment options. |

Undergraduate students |
UNLIKELY. Were you in active F-1 or J-1 status on or before Mar 9, 2020? And are you still in active F-1 or J-1 status? If the answer is ‘Yes’, you can study entirely online, if your program has the coursework to support this. Most courses offered in Fall 2022 will be face-to-face, so students will have few online courses to choose from. |

Preparing for Travel
If you are preparing to travel to the US, this section will explain what documents to prepare, testing and quarantine guidelines, and entry requirements.
Proof of Vaccination - Required
Air Travel: All non-U.S. citizen, non-U.S. immigrants traveling to the United States by air are required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Only limited exceptions apply. Learn more about this requirement.

There are currently no national or state quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated international travelers entering the U.S. or Ohio but the CDC does recommend the following:
If you are fully vaccinated but not up to date with your vaccines
- Stay home and self-quarantine for a full 5 days after travel.
- Follow additional recommendations below for ALL travelers.
For all travelers
- Get tested with a COVID-19 viral test 3-5 days after travel.
- Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
- Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements after travel.
UD currently does not currently require testing or quarantine but does ask students to report vaccinations, including boosters. This may change depending on local, national or international conditions. Visit UD’s COVID-19 Health Resources page for nearby testing and vaccine options.
