Student Support & Activities
As a student at the University of Dayton Intensive English Program, you'll receive support both in and out of the classroom. Our faculty and staff, as well as University resources, are available to assist you with a variety of student needs. We also provide opportunities to engage and communicate with U.S. speakers of English, including other University of Dayton students. You have many options for engaging in U.S. culture both on and off campus!
Our Staff
The IEP Student Advisor tracks student progress in the IEP and helps students make the transition from IEP study to full-time academic study. The IEP Student Advisor is also available to meet with you to discuss your academic progress, to give advice, and to help you solve the cultural and academic challenges you might experience in the United States. The IEP Student Advisor also advises students who are struggling to make progress and advance through the IEP.
The Administrative Associate supports the IEP through various means such as planning, preparing, and executing new student intake and placement testing, as well as the IEP Scholarship program and classroom technology. The Administrative Associate also supports World Associates (WA), which are our student office personnel.
Our World Associates (WA) assist students with questions regarding registration, attendance, holds, and letters of enrollment, as well as scheduling appointments with the Student Advisor and tutoring center. They also provide information about IEP activities as well as campus events.

The IEP Student Advisor also advises students who are struggling to make progress and advance through the IEP.
The IEP Tutoring Place is here to help support students achieve success in their courses and increase their English language proficiency. Tutors can work with students on specific course assignments, individual and group presentations, and test/quiz preparation. Tutoring is conducted by appointment only! Tutoring appointments can be 15, 30, or 60 minutes in length and can be conducted face-to-face in Rike Center or through Zoom meetings as necessary.
Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities connect domestic and IEP students to share an experience together. Through this special programming, IEP students practice their language skills and have fun! Additionally, with more than 200 student clubs and organizations on campus, students will find an activity to match their interests and opportunities to meet American and international students. Clubs include professional and academic clubs, service organizations, recreational sports, special interest groups, and international student groups.
Current and former IEP students often need to request documents from the Intensive English Program office. Our office can provide progress reports for a student’s government/embassy, attendance letter, IEP graduation certificate, honor roll certificate, etc. Students can choose to pick up these documents at the IEP Office in the Rike Center, room 112, or have a PDF copy sent to a preferred email.
