During a Conversation Group session, you will meet students enrolled in the Intensive English Program. Each session begins with a conversation question, with the freedom to follow its lead or direct the discussion elsewhere. Conversation Groups help international students improve their conversational English and increase their knowledge of American culture, which is an invaluable asset as they transition to UD. Students and staff are welcome to bring their own lunches, and the CIP provides guests with lemonade and cookies.
Whether you're an international or U.S. student, the informal setting and dialogue raised in Conversation Groups are a great way to connect with a diverse group of peers across the UD community. The level of commitment is up to you, and pre-registration is not required.
All members of the University of Dayton community, international or not, are welcome to attend Conversation Groups. The groups convene in Rike Center 108 (World Exchange Lounge) both Fall and Spring semesters during the following times:
- Mondays: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
- Tuesdays: 12 to 1 p.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.
- Wednesdays: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Conversation Groups do not run on University holidays. Check the CIP events calendar for specific details and variances by month.
