What is CCC?

Sponsored by the Center for International Programs and Housing & Residence Life, the CCC brings together a diverse group of students who are eager to learn more about one another's cultural identities.  Students have the opportunity to engage in a series of structured relationships-building and intercultural activities throughout the year.  In the CCC we value inclusivity and we do this by supporting each other, building community, and learning and growing together.

All CCC students share in a 1-credit mini-course experience called the Global Competence Certificate.  Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to watch a series of online modules on various diversity topics and share in a series of dialogues as a CCC community. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance your intercultural skills, learn about yourself in relation to your CCC peers, and continue your journey at UD toward becoming a more inclusive leader.

CCC Learning Goals

• Learn about your own cultures and identities.
• Learn about the cultures and identities of your roommate and community members.
• Learn how to communicate effectively and set expectations.
• Learn how to build a positive, cross-cultural living environment.

About the Global Competence Certificate

The Global Competence Certificate is a program offered through AFS Intercultural Programs, an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

Students in the CCC have the opportunity to watch a series of modules and engage with content that is intended to help you become more prepared to navigate a diverse environment.  Some module topics include: Learning Styles, Stereotypes & Generalizations, Cultural Value Dimensions, Communication Styles, Dealing with Conflict, Understanding Inequality, and Power & Privilege.

CCC students will watch the modules online and come together for four group dialogues.  The dialogues are intended to be a space for CCC students to explore the module content further, share, and learn from each other's experiences.
