玫瑰月的由來 (Origin of Rosary)玫瑰聖月之由來
十六世紀土耳其極為強盛，在地中海擁有龐大的海軍艦隊，企圖橫掃歐洲，消滅基督文化。當時的教宗庇護第五乃號召聯軍禦敵，以保全聖教文化及生命之塗炭。但參加作戰的聯軍艦隊力量薄弱，與敵人勢力懸殊。教宗只有呼求天上的母親助佑了，故而通令教會恭唸玫瑰經，以求得勝利。十月七日清晨，雙方艦隊在達勒邦太海峽會戰。戰爭開始前，聯軍曾熱心恭唸了三小時的玫瑰經。戰爭時，原來有利土耳其艦隊的大風，忽然轉向變為有利聯軍了。雙方激戰，聯軍終於以弱勝強，教宗深信此次勝利乃唸玫瑰經的效力。故定十月七日為聖母玫瑰瞻禮，特以玫瑰經恭敬聖母。以後聖教會把這敬禮推廣，於是十月成了玫瑰聖母月。
