Center of Excellence for Thin-Film Research & Surface Engineering (CETRASE)

To focus on improvement of sensors, electronics, electro-optics and energy systems, researchers at the University of Dayton, with a combined 15 patents and more than 600 publications, collectively established the Center of Excellence for Thin-Film Research and Surface Engineering (CETRASE).

CETRASE members represent a wide range of University programs: Electrical and computer engineering, materials engineering, biology, physics, electro-optics as well as the University of Dayton Research Institute. Two are fellows of SPIE, the International Society for Optics and Photonics.

On campus, Kettering Laboratories, Fitz Hall and the Science Center buildings house the state-of-art lab space and equipment for CETRASE. Researchers, who have collaborated on similar projects, work with comprehensive thin-film fabrication equipment, characterization equipment and multi-patented technologies.
