SEE-UD Changes Because of COVID-19

2020 Summer Engineering Experiences at the University of Dayton have been canceled due to the evolving and unknown situation with the COVID-19 virus. Application fees are being refunded to those that applied to attend.  

While this is not the outcome that any of us wanted to see this summer, the health and safety of the student participants and our faculty and staff are of utmost importance.

Even though we cannot be together in person this summer, we’d still like to engage with you around your interest in engineering! We have several ways to engage:

  • We plan to host onsite camps again during Summer 2021. The info on these SEE UD pages for Summer 2020 will give you an idea of the structure of camps for Summer 2021.

Camp Registration


  • For high school students, our camps are open to students entering 11th or 12th grade in fall 2020
  • Requirements: 3.0 GPA
  • If you are Eligible, please review the application information on this page and use the link under "Application" to register for the camp(s) of your choice.
  • If you DO NOT meet the eligibility requirements but are interested, please click here to complete and submit an "Interested, But Not Eligible" form, and we will contact you.

Before You Apply

Prior to applying, please have the following available:

  • Student’s engineering field(s) of interest – you can select all that apply: aerospace, bioengineering, biomechanics, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, manufacturing, materials, mechanical, undecided, other.
  • High School contact (counselor, teacher, administrator, etc.) name, email and phone number. We will inform the contact of your student’s participation in the program.
  • Student’s GPA (out of a 4.0 scale)
  • Student's ACT or SAT score (if they have taken the test)
  • Student's T-shirt size (short sleeve, standard fit)
  • Method of payment – credit card

Application Fee

  • The application fee for a 4-day / 3-night camp is $100 (M²E, CEC, WIE).
  • The application fee for the 2-day / 1-night camp is the full program cost of $95 (CEC Express).
  • Your application fee goes toward camp tuition and is non-refundable (see exceptions in cancellation policy below).


  • Applications are not being accepted for SEE UD 2020 as the camps have been canceled in response to COVID-19.
  • Application deadline for 4-day camps (M²E, CEC, WIE) is May 1.
  • Application deadline for CEC Express camp is June 10.

After You Apply

  • You will receive an automated reply confirming your application and deposit.
  • You will receive email notification within a few weeks detailing your acceptance status, along with instructions to complete your registration and payment (if applicable) for the camp in which you have applied. This email regarding Summer Engineering Experiences at UD will come from
  • If you requested financial assistance, we will email you an online special circumstances form to complete.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made on or before 45 days prior to the start of camp are refundable, minus the application deposit. Application deposits are non-refundable at any time with the only exception being that a student was not admitted into the camp. In this case, a full refund will be provided.

Financial Assistance

A limited amount of special circumstance-based financial assistance is available for M²E, CEC and WIE (financial assistance not available for CEC Express).

To be considered for special circumstances-based financial assistance, email with the subject line “Special circumstances-based financial assistance for STUDENT NAME” with your request to apply.  We will send you a form to complete your request.

The student must also apply for the camp using the above instructions.  If a special circumstance-based award is not granted to the student, and the student chooses not to attend the camp, the application fee will be returned to the student.

Applications that include requests for financial assistance must be received by April 1. After this date, please call the School of Engineering at 937-229-5080 to inquire if additional funding is available.
