UD-UDRI Fellowship Program

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), the highly successful engineering research arm of the University of Dayton, has its roots in the School of Engineering and for many years shared space in Kettering Labs. With the growth of UDRI, the organization relocated the majority of its labs to River Campus. In order to encourage relationships between like-minded engineering faculty and researchers, in 2016- 2017, two initiatives were created to foster formal research collaborations:

1. UD-UDRI Research Fellows Program

The Research Fellows Program partners junior faculty with a UDRI researcher for one and a half months, full time. Faculty receive 50 percent salary coverage for the summer.

2. UD-UDRI Senior Research Fellows Program

The Senior Research Fellows Program partners tenured/senior faculty with a UDRI researcher for one day per week during the summer. Volunteers are eligible for honorariums for participation and proposal submission — $1000 for summer participation and $5000 for joint, eligible proposal acceptance.

Click here to go to UDRI's Statements of Need to discover their research needs. UD faculty will collaborate and work with UDRI researchers at the UDRI facilities. The Office of the Provost, with in-kind support from the School of Engineering and UDRI, funds the fellowships.

To apply, click here to go to the online faculty application. The application deadline is January 31, 2018.

After application review, during the spring of 2018, researchers will be matched with professors according to their research interests. The program will run from May through August 2018.
