University of Dayton School of Engineering

Thinking about a research career? Be S.U.R.E.

The University of Dayton’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (S.U.R.E.) is a highly competitive opportunity for undergraduate engineering and engineering technology majors to spend 10 weeks on campus working on a faculty-led research project. Selected students will receive a $5000 fellowship award for participating and may apply for an additional $1000 for travel to present findings at a conference.

S.U.R.E. and other summer fellow cohorts will network, participate in professional development and have fun. Students enjoy weekly lunches, a team service component, evening activities and a number of workshops on topics from technical writing to applying to grad school. Housing is available on the University of Dayton campus for a fee.

Fellows are selected by participating faculty; interested students must submit an online information form that includes a brief statement of research interest, their résumé and a letter of recommendation. Internal candidates must have completed their first year at UD or the Sinclair Academy. External candidates must be rising seniors in their respective programs.

Student applications for Spring 2018 will open in January 2018.  Please check back to submit your application then.
