Thinking about a research career? Be S.U.R.E.


The University of Dayton’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (S.U.R.E.) is an opportunity for undergraduate engineering and engineering technology majors to spend 10 weeks working on a faculty-led research project. Participants enjoy professional development and service components, weekly lunches, evening activities and workshops on topics from technical writing to grad school application. For a fee, housing is available on the University of Dayton campus. Participating faculty select Fellows.

Participating students receive a $5000 fellowship award. Afterwards, they may apply for an additional $1000 for travel expenses to present their findings at a conference.

Interested students must submit an online information form that includes a brief statement of research interest, their résumé and a letter of recommendation. Internal candidates must have completed their first year at UD or the Sinclair Academy. External candidates must be rising seniors in their respective programs.
