Midwest Summer Institute


Most of the events and activities will take place at Emerson’s Helix Innovation Center located on the campus of the University of Dayton. We will also be spending time in Dayton with community partners and at local restaurants (all transportation and expenses covered). Dinner on the 2nd day will be at a different location on campus TBD.

The rooms within the Helix Innovation Center are equipped with projectors, computers, screens, whiteboards, write-on walls and tables, built-in sound system, and all AV equipment (USB slots, DVDs, cords, etc.).  Full accessible. Click here to go to the Helix Innovation Center Map (PDF).


Wireless Internet connection is available free of charge for all registered summit participants throughout the duration of the conference.  You will find your wifi pass inside your nametag. We encourage participants to bring laptops or other similar devices — don’t forget charging cords.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Breastfeeding and Lactation Room

The venue includes a breastfeeding and lactation room upon request. The room includes the following amenities: chair, table and outlet. There is a refrigerator in the break room that will only be used for this conference and can be used to store breastmilk. Please let us know if you will need this room.

Around Dayton during Summit times

  • We will be providing shuttle buses for participants staying at the conference hotels to and from Emerson Helix Innovation Center.  
  • We will provide all transportation needs during the hours of the program.

To and From the Airport

  • We can help arrange group transportation from the Dayton International Airport to conference hotels and / or Emerson Helix Innovation Center, which is 14.6 miles one way.


  • We encourage you to stay parked at the hotel. The Marriott at the University of Dayton will provide shuttle service to the Helix Innovation Center. For those staying at the Courtyard, we can arrange pickup. For those wishing to drive to the Helix Innovation Center each day, we will provide directions to the designated area for our conference.
