Engineering Innovation Costa Rica Spring Break Trip
Join us for an unforgettable journey to Costa Rica, exclusively for first-year engineering majors! This trip is part of the EGR 103 Engineering Innovation course. Students who are interested in the trip will take EGR 103 in their second semester.
- On this trip, you will visit projects such as the Celsia wind turbine, Los Negro Hydroelectric plan, the Miravalles geothermal power plant.
- Enjoy cultural and recreational activities such as hiking Arenal Volcano and Cloud Forest and enjoying hot springs and Manuel Antonio.
- Learn to apply your experiences from EGR 103 to onsite field study in Costa Rica.

Monday, March 17: Transfer to Monteverde. Lunch Monteverde Cloud Forest. Night Hike
Tuesday, March 18: Transfer to Guayabo de Bagaces. Lunch. Visit Canalate HydroPower Project
Wednesday, March 19: Visit CoopeGuanacaste WindFarm + BioMass Project Talk. Lunch. Visit CoopeGuanacaste Solar Farm.
Thursday, March 20: Visit Cerro Mogote Wind Farm Transfer to Manuel Antonio.
Friday, March 21: Manuel Antonio NP. Lunch. Transfer to San Jose
Saturday, March 22: Depart to USA
Last year's cost of the program was $2,800.
What is included in the cost:
- International medical insurance and 24/7 emergency support for the duration of the program.
- Health, safety, and cultural orientation upon arrival.
- Lodging in hotels and ECO lodges.
- Two meals per day.
- Entrance fees and transportation for all programmed activities.
What is not included in the cost:
- Flights: Students can travel to Costa Rica on any airline. Professor Hart will share her flight plans so that students can choose to travel with her if they choose.
