Join the Dietetics program

The University of Dayton provides the framework and structure for you to grow and develop in a holistic manner, preparing you for the next step (dietetics internship and graduate school) in becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist. 

Admission to the dietetics major can occur as a first-year entry student, internal transfer student, or external transfer student. To speak with a current dietetics student or faculty member, contact Program Director Jennifer L. Dalton MS, RDN, LD.

Admissions criteria

  • First-year student: ACT score of 24
  • Internal transfer student: 3.0 GPA and successful completion (C+ or higher) of CHM 123 and 123L.
  • External transfer student: 3.2 GPA and successful completion (B- or higher) of CHM 123, 123L transfer equivalent (Policy on review of chemistry grade: The dietetics program will consider two attempts at completion of CHM 123 or equivalent for review for admission to a program. A “W” counts as one attempt at completion.)
  • International students: Required TOEFL score of 80 upon admission to the University of Dayton for direct admit into the dietetics program as a first-year student.
