Study abroad

In summer 2018, a group of Teacher Education students traveled to Florence, Italy. The program emphasized the richness of the culture of Italy and specifically Florence, bringing together the city’s art, history and diversity while utilizing children’s and young adult literature for a rich interdisciplinary approach. Students visited a variety of museums, galleries, churches, bookstores and other historically significant sites in order to examine and understand this intriguing city and culture.

Undergraduate research

Many of our students participate in UD's annual Stander SymposiumThis annual, campus-wide event provides an opportunity for students from all disciplines to showcase their intellectual and artistic accomplishments.

Dayton Early College Academy (DECA)

This innovative community school, sponsored by Dayton Public Schools and operated by the University of Dayton, serves as a demonstration school for UD students majoring in Adolescent to Young Adult Education (EYA). DECA's singular focus is preparing urban students to attend and succeed in college.

Lalanne program

This post-graduate teacher service program specializes in supporting beginning Catholic school educators by combining service and teaching. Lalanne teachers make a two-year commitment to teach in an under-resourced Catholic school, and return to UD during the summer to take classes toward their master's degree (10+ degree programs to choose from). Teachers live together in a faith-based community, and pursue professional as well as spiritual and personal development.

Graduate assistantships

Graduate assistantships are competitive and limited. Assistantships are available in several departments within the School of Education & Health Sciences.

Gunzburger Graduate Student Scholarship

The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for the Dr. Linda Gunzburger Graduate Student Scholarship. This scholarship was established to benefit graduate students who are practicing teachers and who are pursuing a Master's Degree in the Department of Teacher Education. Check back for information about how to apply.
