Certificate in School Counseling

Leverage Your LPC to Become a School Counselor

LPCs who are interested in gaining additional training to become a licensed school counselor can do so with the University of Dayton’s School Counseling certificate.

  • Four semesters (23 credits)
  • Online, in-person, or hybrid options
  • Prepares you to sit for the OAE Exam

To receive your license, you're required to pass the the Ohio Assessment for Educators exam in school counseling.

The certificate is designed for graduates of UD's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. However, anyone who holds a current LPC license in Ohio can qualify for the certificate program with a few additional admission requirements.
