Sport Management Student Support

Two funds are available for students studying sport management (B.S.S.W.) to help offset the cost of professional development and continuing education, or to attend professional conferences and explore career possibilities.

John R. Schleppi Sport Management Career Enhancement Fund

The John R. Schleppi Sport Management Career Enhancement Fund creates an opportunity for sport management students to attend professional conferences and explore career possibilities.

The Career Enhancement Fund recognizes Dr. Schleppi's contribution and leadership role in UD's sport management (B.S.S.W.) program, created in 1986.

Funds are awarded annually to a sport management student, to be used to attend professional conferences. Attending these types of events offers students the opportunity for networking as they begin looking for jobs after graduation. The winner must demonstrate a desire to enhance their education.

Keep Playing the Game Fund

The Keep Playing the Game fund was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Peter Titlebaum, who helped build UD's sport management program.

Dr. Titlebaum, a sport management professor, joined UD in 1996. Known to his students as "Doc T," he's challenged them to question the status quo and stretch their comfort zone. He's made a lasting impression on many students — a number of them credit him for helping them achieve professional success.

Enter the Keep Playing the Game Scholarship, named after a catchphrase familiar to any of Dr. Titlebaum's students. The scholarship annually awards $2,000 to a current senior in the sport management program or an alumni who graduated in the past year. The funds are to be used to help offset the cost of professional development or continuing education.
