David Bauer is the Senior Director of Academic Technologies at the University of Dayton, where he leads the development and implementation of innovative technology solutions to enhance teaching, learning, and student success. With a passion for artificial intelligence and its potential to transform education, David focuses on integrating AI into academic environments, emphasizing ethical adoption and practical applications, and creating seamless, systems-driven learning ecosystems.
David has served as a member of the Sakai Project Management Committee (PMC) and has been an active contributor to the Sakai community as a developer and advocate for open-source learning platforms. In his current role, he chairs the university’s AI Oversight Committee and AI Project initiatives, where his goal is to foster AI literacy and implement solutions that align with institutional goals. A certified Professional Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master, David combines technical expertise with collaborative leadership to deliver practical, scalable technology solutions.
Grounded in the Marianist values of collaboration, adaptability, and community, David emphasizes team cohesion and continuous improvement in his leadership. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton, reflecting a lifelong connection to the university’s mission of transformative education.
