Profile & Areas of Primary Responsibility

Matt joined UD in 2007.  Prior to joining UD's legal team Matt was an Assistant General Counsel for the University of Cincinnati.  Prior to law school Matt worked as a biochemist for Avon Products, Inc.

Matt's primary responsibilities for the University are in the University of Dayton Research Institute's Technology Partnerships Office, where he serves as the Director of the Office of Technology Partnerships Office, negotiating research-related contracts (including license agreements), intellectual property matters and other legal matters affecting UDRI.  He spends a portion of his time assisting the University's Office of Legal Affairs.  For the Office of Legal Affairs, Matt’s areas of primary responsibility include:  Intellectual property matters (patent, copyright, trademark, trade secrets); non-disclosure agreements; material transfer agreements; academic publications; licensing; corporate partnerships; start-up companies/entrepreneurship; athletics; general contract matters.  Matt is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Dayton School of Law.
