Brian Bacon is Associate Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Nationwide, a nationally renowned insurance and financial services firm and in addition is Assistant Secretary for its subsidiary Nationwide Bank, member FDIC both based in Columbus, Ohio. He manages a banking, trust and financial transactions legal team for a fast growing federally chartered savings bank. He has practiced before the Office of Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in connection with a number of transactions and has provided input into the drafting of legislative language for the landmark Dodd-Frank Act. During his career at Nationwide, he has worked on developing legal platforms for the offering of corporate owned life insurance products, retirement plan trusts and medium term notes all requiring extensive practice in banking, securities and insurance laws. Prior to joining Nationwide in 1986, he served as Ohio Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Chief Counsel’s Staff. During law school at UDSL, he served on the Moot Court Board and as law clerk to Hon. Judge John W. Kessler of the Common Pleas Court of Montgomery County, Ohio.
