I chose UD because I knew it was somewhere that I could pursue both my degree and all of my other passions and not be held back. Several other universities told me that I wouldn't be able to be involved in band or intramurals as an engineering student because I'd be too busy, but at UD I've only ever received report and encouragement.
I've wanted to be an engineer for as long as I can remember (more precisely, since I got my first LEGO set). I've always had a desire to help people and have loved being creative and solving problems, and engineering is the best avenue to do all of that! UD engineering was enticing coming in because of all the different paths they offered within engineering. As a mechanical engineering student, I had never heard the medical industry mentioned as being a part of engineering, but since being here at UD I've been able to get heavily involved in that field and it is now where I'll be continuing my full-time career as an engineer!
I love UD because of the incredible support system that comes with being a Flyer! I’ve had some amazing opportunities and experiences both academically and professionally that have helped me grow as a person. There is always something new and exciting to look forward to here!
Choose somewhere that doesn't separate what you like to do and what you want to do. If you're going into engineering to design bridges but you have a love for music, do both. The first priority in college is to do well in your classes so you can walk out with your degree, but the next and best thing about college is that it's the only time in your life where you'll have so many opportunities to choose from all at once, so take advantage of that and get involved with as much as you can!
