During his tenure, Dr. Wolfe grew the boychoir into a three-tiered program; led a capital campaign to secure the organization's first permanent home; conducted the choir in symphony, television and radio performances; and established a partner relationship with the Vienna Boys Choir in Austria.

Before coming to the University of Dayton, Dr. Wolfe taught at Sinclair Community College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Central State University, Northwest High School, Pleasant Run Middle School and Delhi Junior High School.

Dr. Wolfe has written the books Music in Theory and Practice, Music of Christmas: Around the World, through the Centuries, and in American Popular Music, and The Boychoir: A Practical Guide for Directors, Administrators, Board Members, Choristers, and Parents, which is published by the American Choral Directors Association as Monograph #16.

He has taught applied studio piano and voice, choral ensembles, accompanying, score reading, advanced choral conducting, piano literature, choral methods, choral literature and arranging, piano pedagogy, sight-singing and aural skills, music theory, music appreciation, music and art in the western world, class piano, voice class, music theory, and music of Christmas.

Wolfe received his D.M.A., M.M. and B.M., graduating "summa cum laude," with a double major in Piano Performance and Vocal Music Education, from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, with additional studies at the University of Michigan, Westminster Choir College, The Ohio State University and the Actilingua Institute of Vienna, Austria.

Faculty perspective

"It is a joy to share the beauty of great music of all genres with my students, whether they are pianists learning to communicate effectively with their audiences, pupils of musical theory studying how musical construction affects its outcome, or students seeking appreciation of music around the world and throughout the centuries through the lens of Christmas music!"
