Profile
Dr. Andrew Jones is currently a freelance tubist based in the Southwest Ohio region. He has performed with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic, the Dayton Opera, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the North Texas Wind Symphony, among others. He is a member of the 5K Brass Quintet based in Cincinnati, and has performed with the Seven Hills Brass, the Oakwood Brass and the Legacy Brass Quintet. He has been a finalist in the International Tuba Euphonium Association’s Arnold Jacobs Mock Orchestral Tuba Competition and the International Women's Brass Conference Brass Orchestral Excerpts Competition. Jones has also been a semifinalist in the student and artist division of the Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Solo Competition.
In addition to his collegiate duties at the University of Dayton, Jones has a large studio of junior high and high school students. He teaches for the band programs of Beaver Creek, Mason, Milford, West Clermont, Kenton Ridge and Walnut Hills (Cincinnati). His students have been selected for participation in the Ohio All-State Band, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and other regional honor ensembles.
Jones holds the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Music Education and a Bachelor of Performance from the University of North Texas. His primary teachers include Tim Northcut, Dr. Ben Pierce, Don Little and Ed Jones.
