Profile

Tubist Andrew Jones holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Music Education and a Bachelor of Performance from the University of North Texas. His primary teachers include Timothy J. Northcut, Dr. Benjamin Pierce, Donald C. Little and Ed Jones.

Jones has performed with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic, the Dayton Opera, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Springfield (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, the Butler Philharmonic, the Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony, the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra and the North Texas Wind Symphony. Chamber music performances include the Canterbury Brass, the Oakwood Brass, the Legacy Brass Quintet and performances at the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy in Sweden with the 5K Brass Quintet, a group he has been a member of since 2018. He has been a finalist in the International Tuba Euphonium Association’s Arnold Jacobs Mock Orchestral Tuba Competition and the International Women's Brass Conference Brass Orchestral Excerpts Competition. Jones has also been a semifinalist in the student and artist division of the Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Solo Competition. 

In addition to his collegiate duties, Jones has a large studio of junior high and high school students. He teaches for the band programs of Milford, West Clermont, Kenton Ridge and Walnut Hills (Cincinnati). His students have been selected for participation in the Ohio All-State Band, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, the Springfield Youth Symphony and other regional honor bands.
