CPT John Zaehringer enlisted in the United States Army in November 2001 as a Medical Laboratory Technician.  He received a scholarship through the Army’s Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) in April of 2008, and attended Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia where he earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

CPT Zaehringer has served in the 31st and 14th Combat Support Hospitals (CSH), the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) in various levels of Human Resources from Battalion to Brigade. He has deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and OPERATION ATLANTIC RESOLVE 2.0. 

CPT Zaehringer’s military education includes Adjutant Generals Officer Basic Course, Adjutant Generals Captains Career Course, US Army Airborne School, and US Army Air Assault School.  Currently, he is working towards his M.A. in Human Resources.

CPT Zaehringer’s awards and decoration include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal with 1 star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Oversees Service Ribbon with numeral 2, NATO (ISAF) Medal, Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge.

He and his wife have one child, and they reside in Oakwood, OH.
