LTC Jeff Burges graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and commissioned into the Active Duty as an Engineer officer. He also holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s of Military Arts and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

LTC Burges served as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the 27th Engineer Battalion (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC with one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He commanded a combat engineer company in the 4th Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, CO with two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. MAJ Burges then served in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC with a deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve to Baghdad, Iraq on the Division staff, followed by two years in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, culminating as the Battalion Executive Officer of the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion. Prior to his assignment at the University of Dayton, MAJ Burges served as the Brigade Engineer Battalion Executive Officer Observer, Coach, Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA.

LTC Burges’ awards include the Bronze Star (2 Awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Awards), Army Commendation Medal (2 Awards), Navy Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2 Awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 Awards), Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

LTC Burges is originally from Castroville, TX and is married to Emily Burges with whom they have three children, Kaitlyn, David, and Caroline.
