As communications coordinator for the Hanley Sustainability Institute and the Sustainability Program, Mark implements communication strategies and creates content across multiple platforms to spotlight sustainability efforts at the University of Dayton.

Mark writes articles and coordinates other content for the HSI blog and the HSI and Sustainability Program websites and social media platforms. Mark serves as a mentor to students interested in sustainability and other forms of communication.

An award-winning multi-media journalist with decades of experience, Mark comes to the University with a diverse background in news reporting, sports reporting, copy editing and design plus on-air television, radio and digital work at the Dayton Daily News and WHIO. He most recently covered federal and common pleas courts plus public safety issues.

Before that, Mark’s beats included city and county government and courts in Greene County, Miami County courts and high school sports. He added coverage of Ohio State football and basketball, UD football, basketball and other sports, the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, pro golf and pro tennis. As a designer, he copy edited the front page of the daily and Sunday Daily News. He also worked at the Minot (N.D) Daily News and Grand Forks (N.D) Herald.

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and sociology from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree in education from Xavier University.
