Administrative role

Michelle Pautz is the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Student Academic Success. In this role, she works with faculty across the College on undergraduate and graduate curriculum development and delivery, including courses, minors, majors and programs, as well as teaching and pedagogy. As part of this work, she facilitates the College's undergraduate curriculum (Academic Affairs Committee) and graduate curriculum (Graduate Academic Affairs Committee) groups. She also works with the student success team in the College, supporting advising and student academic success efforts.

Profile

Michelle Pautz received her B.A. in Economics, Political Science and Public Administration from Elon University in 2003. She then went on to receive her MPA from Virginia Tech in 2005 and her Ph.D. in Public Administration from Virginia Tech in 2008. She teaches and conducts research in environmental policy and regulation, government reform and accountability and film and politics. Prior to joining the UD faculty, Dr. Pautz taught at Elon University, Ferrum College and Virginia Tech. She also worked for the Virginia Department of Environment Quality and the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. From 2017-22 she served as the Assistant Provost for the Common Academic Program and has also been the graduate program director for UD's Master of Public Administration program. She is the 2016 recipient of the Alumni Award for Faculty Teaching.
