What do you like most about your major?
I love the ability to have the tools to think in any situation. The situation I value most is the business world. I believe investing is the last liberal art in which one can make a career out of besides academics. It revolves around people, and how they spend their money. Philosophy has guided me through research while economics has guided me through analysis of that research.
What do you love most about UD?
I love the people around me, but, most importantly, I love that I am encouraged to work outside the classroom. I love that my teachers have challenged my ways of thinking and given me a working knowledge to attack any logical problem.
Have you ever participated in faculty-mentored research? If so, what did you learn from that experience?
I finished my senior seminar project for my economics degree. Dr. Haskell and Dr. Vivero, guided me along finding the data for my thesis on what qualitative factors drive economic returns for public companies. I learned more deeply the toolset of economic analysis and the importance of quantitative analysis.
Favorite class at UD and why?
Money and Banking with Professor Poitras. His class changed the way I think about money and incentives. In my daily life I think about how incentives drive human behavior around me.
What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?
Most definitely my internships at Northwestern Mutual and Nationwide insurance. I learned how to put myself out there and absorb info like a sponge.
What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?
- Dayton International Investment Club (president)
- Phi Chi Theta (fundraising head)
- Flyers for Financial Literacy (treasurer)
- Microeconomics (supplemental instructor)
- Financial Planning Association (treasurer)
- CAS Ambassador
