What do you love most about UD?

I love how, at UD, the professors are truly invested in the success of their students. You can tell they really care about how their students are doing, not just academically, but outside of the classroom as well. They will do everything they can to make sure their students get the most out of their UD experience.

What do you like most about your major?

There are so many things you can do with a math degree. The first semester, we took an intro class that provided a lot of great resources and explained different paths you can take at UD. There is also a wide variety of different math courses available to take at UD, so it’s easy to find classes that are interesting and you enjoy taking.

Favorite class at UD and why?

My favorite class at UD has been MTH 229, Theory of Interest. It was the first math course I took for my minor, and it really helped to prepare me for my first actuarial exam. In addition, Professor Christman was able to give us a unique perspective, having taken multiple actuarial exams himself. It was fun to be in a math class that focused more on interest and financial situations, which I had never experienced before.

What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?

I had the opportunity to participate in a program by Ernst & Young involving specialized courses to better prepare me for after graduation. It was a great experience and one that would not have been possible if not for my professors’ support and belief in me.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • Math Club
  • University Honors Program
  • Intramural sports

Why did you choose UD?

Out of all of the colleges I toured as a high school senior, UD was the place I felt most at home. It wasn’t too big or too small and the campus is beautiful. I was able to meet with a couple professors before I committed to UD, and they were very helpful and made me feel very comfortable with the math department and the university.
