What do you love most about UD?

What I love most about UD are the ample amount of opportunities given to students. When I say opportunities, I don't mean it in the sense most people would. I am speaking about the opportunities to have important conversations with people of different backgrounds. Also, the many chances to be in leadership opportunities as students.

What do you like most about your major?

What I enjoy most about being a Sociology major is the opportunity to look into the hard questions we have in life. Being able to step outside of myself to examine the world around me is a privilege that many do not get the chance to in our society. I love that each sociologist has a different purpose in their pursuit for answers.

Favorite class at UD and why?

I would say my favorite class at UD thus far has been Sociology 101 (Principle of Sociology). I had applied to most colleges as an anthropology major. However, Dayton only had anthropology as a minor. Taking this class got rid of any uncertainty that I had concerning choosing Sociology as a major. Dr. Sloss had made asking difficult questions and getting even more difficult answers easy to digest as students.

What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?

I would say being on the Mock Trial team freshman year was extremely helpful in allowing me to gain hands-on experience. Mock Trial opened my eyes to many of the research and presentational components of being a lawyer.

Why did you choose UD?

I chose UD because it is a place where you don't have to look far to have someone to help or support you. I come from a diverse high school that prides itself on faith, community, diversity and academics, and UD exemplified each of those points.
