Hometown

What do you like most about your major?
I like how many different directions you can pursue with a criminal justice degree. I also like how most criminal justice work is visible in everyday occurrences and you aren’t doing the same tasks every day. There will be a sense of randomness in the job which excites me.
What do you love most about UD?
I love the people I get to surround myself with every day that build me up. I also like the campus and how it isn’t too big or too small.
Have you ever participated in faculty-mentored research? If so, what did you learn from that experience?
I learned how to redact. I learned how to ethically collect data and organize it. I also learned patience and how to balance my schedule.
Favorite class at UD and why?
My favorite class is the Inside Out Program class taught by Dr. Kallsen. I like it because it’s the most immersed feeling I have ever obtained from a class. Most classes you learn the facts and get tested on it, but with the program, you get the facts and you get to hear about so many experiences from the residents at the correctional facility that relate to restorative justice.
What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?
Working alongside the staff in the department has prepared me to begin my career.
What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?
- Teaching Assistant (Criminal Justice and Security Studies)
- CAS Ambassador
- Residential Assistant
Why did you choose UD?
I chose UD because it gave me a home feeling and also is not too far from my actual home. I also chose UD because of the support from the faculty and staff I’d find in my major.
