What do you like most about your major?

I really enjoy the problem solving I get to do in mathematics, but also the way classes are run, almost like we are discovering the subject as we go.

What do you love most about UD?

I think the neighborhood and housing system is awesome. Even though it can be a hassle sometimes, it is definitely a step above what I’ve seen from so many other universities and really makes UD unique.

Have you ever participated in faculty-mentored research? If so, what did you learn from that experience?

During the summer of 2024, I was able to have a research experience for undergraduates at Oregon State University. This was a great experience, and I was able to get acquainted with what professional mathematicians do and what that life looks like.

Favorite class at UD and why?

Discrete Math. It is the first class that introduces students to higher level mathematical thinking and proofs and it was very enjoyable.

What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?

My research experience over the past summer prepared me for graduate school, which I plan to attend after I graduate from UD.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • Math Club
  • Young Democratic Socialists of America

Why did you choose UD?

I chose UD because it has a great balance between being social and meeting new people and actually learning and getting us prepared for our future.

Is there anything else about your UD experience you think prospective students and their families should know?

I participated in the CORE program which is an interdisciplinary humanities program which combines many first year humanities courses into one. Although I am in STEM, I still got a great deal out of this and was a great way to advance my worldview and meet people during my freshman year.
