What do you like most about your major?

Learning about the way art evolves and changes over time.

What do you love most about UD?

I love how small and pretty the campus is, especially all the trees and brick buildings. It is easy to connect and get to know people here. I also love how small the class sizes are because it allows you to build connections with your classmates and your professors.

Favorite class at UD and why?

VAH 483, Post Colonial and Global Art Histories with Professor Judith Huacuja. It is a very interesting and compelling class that focuses on often overlooked artistic perspectives beginning from the contemporary period in the 1950s all the way up into the present. I really enjoy the class and learning about the ways in which art overlaps and connects with various individual and national identities as well as social issues and movements.

What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?

I have learned a lot being an R.A.

What clubs/organizations are you involved in at UD?

  • Flyer Radio
  • French Club
  • Sustainability Club
  • CAS Ambassador

Why did you choose UD?

I chose UD because I wanted to go to college somewhere small and quaint and close to home, but also a place that was open-minded and promoted good values. Obviously there is a strong sense of community on this campus, but there is also a general kindness and good energy in the people here, both faculty and students.

Is there anything else about your UD experience you think prospective students and their families should know?

I was a transfer student here at UD my sophomore year which made it challenging to make friends and feel like I was a part of the community at first, but I feel so at home now and am so happy that I decided to transfer here. I would encourage any student who is thinking about transferring here to seriously consider Dayton because it is truly a wonderful place and there is a space for everyone here.
