Erin’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and has recently been included in exhibitions in connection with the Southern Graphics Printmaking Council and the Mid-America Print Council, both of which she is a member. Faculty Perspective
My current work examines the evolution of personal identity. I am continually fascinated and perplexed by how we perceive ourselves, both apart from and within relationships. My roles, particularly those as partner and as parent, continually urge me to pause and reflect on a malleable identity also shaped by work, inheritance and history. I strive to communicate acceptance, routine, struggle, empathy and repetition, as I see these as significant designs of domestic life. I create drawings and prints that reflect these variant interests.
I also have a deep interest in the health and safety of our students, therefore the printmaking studio at the University of Dayton is a safer, less toxic environment than a traditional printmaking studio. I have worked to maintain traditional methodologies and incorporate less toxic processes into the printmaking curriculum, so as to give students an understanding of historical and contemporary printmaking.
