NEWS FOR EVERYONE

Virtual pomp and circumstance 

Tune in this weekend for virtual degree conferral ceremonies from the comfort of your home. Undergraduate degrees will be conferred at noon Sunday, May 10, with graduate degrees awarded at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, following the 11 a.m. ceremony to confer degrees for law school graduates. Each ceremony will be broadcast at https://udayton.edu/flyer20grad.

Student becomes teacher, online

When K-12 schools closed in response to COVID-19, UD education majors had to continue their teaching and learning online. University of Dayton Magazine shares how senior Cole Hepp and his fellow student teachers worked to adapt as they transitioned to distance teaching for their K-12 students. 

Tips for parents as teachers

Feeling overwhelmed with working and teaching from home while working with and teaching your own children? ECHO (Empowering Children with Hope and Opportunity) from the Center for Catholic Education has developed newsletters to assist with social, emotional and everyday resource challenges presented as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Appointment-only tech support during summer

As of May 4, the UDit Service Center is offering in-person support by appointment only. Call 937-229-3888 or email ITservicecenter@udayton.edu to talk with a technician about remote support options or schedule an appointment to visit Anderson 28 for equipment drop-offs, hardware assistance and other issues that can’t be resolved remotely. May is for Mary

NEWS FOR STUDENTS 

Moving, moving, moving 

Starting May 15, students can retrieve their belongings from their University of Dayton residences. The phased approach, approved by Public Health - Dayton and Montgomery County, will offer students four-hour blocks during assigned periods: May 15-24 for Ohio residents within 60 miles of campus, May 25-31 for all other Ohio residents, and June 1-21 for University of Dayton students outside Ohio. Students received information on how to reserve their time slot in a May 6 email; read the email here.

Town Hall events cover finances, future

More than 1,280 faculty and staff joined two virtual town hall meetings this week to hear information and pose questions about the financial challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and the path forward. More information, including links to watch videos of the town halls, is available on Porches.

Wellness that works

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, the Wellness that Works program is providing a weekly mindfulness series with insights and tips from experts. The first topic is From Stress to Compassion: Coping During a Pandemic. Click here to access the webinar recordings.
