Dear University of Dayton staff,

We want to thank you for your dedication, patience, flexibility and support for the campus community in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. You have worked long hours to help protect the health and safety of our community and support our students under challenging circumstances. On behalf of President Spina and the rest of the administrative team, we want to express our profound gratitude and thanks for your dedication and service.

We trust you saw President Spina's recent message announcing that remote learning will be extended for the remainder of the semester

This decision will affect our work in many ways, and will especially have an impact on the work of staff who normally work on campus. In an effort to answer some of the primary questions you may have, you will find on the COVID-19 resources website some FAQs that should help address some issues related to your position and your ability to perform your duties. Look for "Information for faculty and staff, including graduate assistants."

We do not have answers today to address all of the differing positions and work responsibilities represented in the University's workforce. We assure you that we are working closely with vice presidents, deans and unit leaders to work through these important issues to bring clarity as soon as we can. While we are currently experiencing significant disruption to cash flow and operating revenues, the University is committed to paying staff and contributing to your benefit plans as long as we responsibly can. We will send updates as soon as they’re available to help staff plan for any potential furloughs, pay shifts or other cuts. We encourage you to continue talking with your supervisors and take your questions to them. 

We are grateful for your dedication to the University and your concern for our community. We appreciate each and every one of you, and hope you take care of yourself and your families during this time.
