Alexander Martin (them/they) is a multiracial black and queer artist and performer who lives and works in Peoria, Illinois. Community engagement is a major theme of their studio practice, which manifests as a combination of mixed media work, found objects, performance, ritual, and education. Alexander is a drag queen performing under the name Artemisia VanHo, a founding member for Peoria Guild of Black Artists (PGOBA) and currently works for Central Illinois Friends, as the peer outreach and marketing coordinator engaging with the LGBTQ+ and black community around sexual health and destigmatization.
