Ben Wendel's Seasons Group
07:30 PM - 09:30 PM
Location: Sears Recital Hall, Jesse Philips Humanities Center
Cost: Ticket Required

There are not many jazz musicians who take inspiration from Tchaikovsky. But Ben Wendel is not just any jazz musician. Best known as a saxophone player, Wendel “fell in love” with the Russian composer’s Seasons—a dozen piano solos released in 1876, each evoking a month of the year. For his ambitious project, Wendel created a twelve-part cycle of chamber duos, released singly each month on YouTube in 2015. A critically acclaimed album release featuring a quintet followed in 2018, and now he’s now touring the project. Described as “…a wonderful, multi-colored work,” this is an immersive musical experience that sweeps across genres and time.
