Haley Morris-Cafiero will deliver the department of art and design’s spring Visiting Artist Scholar Educator Lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at 6 p.m. in Sears Recital Hall. The lecture is in conjunction with Morris-Cafiero’s exhibition Wait Watchers, on view at the University of Dayton’s Radial Gallery Feb. 22 through Mar. 22. This exhibition spans a five-year journey in Haley Morris-Cafiero's artistic career with self-portraits that come together to boldly incite us to question the relationship of social media, selfie-culture, and the manner in which we critique each other.

Haley Morris-Cafiero positions her camera in public spaces – shopping malls, near tourist sites, and in commercial locales. She takes photos of herself as others pass her by. The camera is not hidden. In the resulting photographs she captures curious glances, sneers, and other expressions of the public’s unsolicited judgements of her.
