Dean of Students Series: Survivors of Power Based Personal Violence: The Neurobiology of Trauma

Thursday, July 20

Time: 11 a.m. — 12 p.m.

Location: Kennedy Union Room 222

In the first five days after a sexual assault, brain structure shifts. Students may change their behavior, say atypical things, or confide in you for help. This presentation will focus on the neurobiology of trauma and how you can best support student survivors of power based personal violence. Presented by Megan Nelson, Graduate Assistant, Sexual Violence Prevention Education

The Dean of Students Office provides a variety of services to challenge, support, encourage, and prepare students to be successful now and after graduation. This series is designed to provide information to faculty and staff on how you can support the success of students as it relates to key functions out of the Dean of Students office, and presents an opportunity to learn more about how we can work together throughout the academic year.
