Minor in Management Information Systems

Management Information Systems

The MIS field deals with all the information and problem solving activity of a modern, successful organization. The MIS discipline brings together the various business areas and computer science. This program provides the theory and methodology to analyze, design, implement and manage an organization's information technology and systems. MIS also makes an excellent companion to any other business and many non-business majors.

An individual minoring in MIS might serve as a liaison from a functional area (e.g., marketing or accounting) to MIS on systems development projects, or may be a member of the systems development team representing the interests of the functional area. Other minors simply want to be "power users" of information technology.

Program Details

Our innovative MIS undergraduate program features a capstone, two-semester analysis and design project with a Dayton area firm. You may also select courses from two MIS minors: business intelligence and cybersecurity management. This hands-on approach prepares you for immediate contribution in the professional world — a skill highly sought by employers.
