Student Success Stories

What is your major(s)?

I plan to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor's degree, majoring in Accounting.

What is your success story?

I’ve been fortunate to work with Flyer Consulting, the student-run consulting firm serving non-profit clients on a pro-bono basis. In the past two years Flyer Consulting has grown from 15 to 25 members and to working with clients as far away as Ireland. I started with them as a confident but unpolished young professional with little real experience, but since then I‘ve written two grant proposals, and my last client plans to put into direct use the annual report I created. On campus, I helped organize a teleconference between a managing director from a world-class consulting firm, Flyer Consulting and two other campus organizations. More than 60 students attended, and we hope to turn this into a recurring event. I’m excited to continue operating as a servant leader, in true Marianist fashion, as a member of Flyer Consulting.

What are your best SBA experiences so far?

Outside of my organizational involvement, my best experiences with the SBA have been my relationships with professors. With support of faculty, I’ve completed 3 internships so far, and look forward to a 4th one in summer 2018. In many one-on-one meetings during office hours, my professors have encouraged me and provided guidance on how to fulfill my educational and career ambitions. They’ve shown a genuine interest in my personal, academic and professional development.

How do you expect to carry these experiences over into your future plans?

I’ve decided to continue my education at UD following graduation by enrolling in the MBA program and plan to sit for the CPA exam. Following that, I will attend law school with plans of becoming an estate lawyer.

Why do you love UD?

I love UD because the community here has allowed me to form friendships that will last a lifetime. Ever since the day I toured as a high school student, I’ve always felt at home on campus. From the faculty, to the administrators and staff, to my fellow students - everyone has been friendly from the start. I will always remember my time at UD and the people who continue to make being here a one-of-a-kind experience.
