New Venture Creation Final Round - POSTPONED

The Final Round of the Flyer Pitch Competition will not be held on April 4, 2020 at the Wright Brothers Institute located in the 444 Building at 444 E. Second Street in Downtown Dayton.   

The five winners of the New Venture Creation Cameo Round will compete in the Final Round for the following cash awards:

1st Place - $25,000 + $25,000 matching support from The Entrepreneur's Center

2nd Place - $15,000

3rd Place - $10,000

4th Place - $5,000

5th Place - $2,500

In addition to the prize money outlined above, all finalist teams and alternate teams will win ten hours of free legal advice support via the UD Law School’s Entrepreneurship and IP Clinic (executable between January 2020 and the start of finals week in May 2021).  The top three finalist winners will also win 15 additional hours of free legal advice and support via the UD Law School’s Entrepreneurship and IP Clinic (executable between the start of the fall session in August 2020 and start of finals week in the Fall 2021 term).

1st Place -  $2,500:  Smiley Goat Adaptive Board Games - Grace Silverberg

2nd Place - $1,250:  Theia - The Next Frontier in Contact Cases - Bernard Dalichau, Nicole Luisi & Gonzalo Perez

3rd Place - $500:  Savorista - Caffeine Conscious Coffee - Kaitlyn Brown

4th Place - $500:  Vascular Access for the Hemodialysis Patient - Julie Ziemelis & Paul Singleton

5th Place - $250:  Adhesion Seal 24 - Jillian McIntosh & Jeff Warner


Shark Tank Style Elevator Pitch Winners

The Shark Tank Style Elevator Pitch Round was held at the Dayton Metro Library on October 19, 2019.  Fifty-three presenters out of 57 applicants pitched their ideas in 60 seconds with one slide before a panel of judges.  Eleven winners were chosen to move on to the Cameo Round to be held on November 16, 2019.

Now in its 14th year, Flyer Pitch will award more than $70,000 in cash prizes and more than $50,000 in in-kind prizes during three events in Dayton during the 2019-2020 competition. Its legacy includes more than 36 new ventures that have been launched as a result of the competition with $171 million in capital raised by those businesses.

Senior Wins Flyer Pitch Grand Prize for Handy Hats

University of Dayton senior Danielle Ruffolo won the $25,000 grand prize for her patented Handy Hats in the University of Dayton’s Flyer Pitch competition, one of the largest business plan contests in the nation at the collegiate level.
