Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.) remains an overriding maxim in the Economics & Finance Department, rooted in the School of Business Administration's commitment to experiential learning. R.I.S.E. programs offer students the opportunities to interact with--and learn from--seasoned professionals, and to exercise industry best practices in real-world situations and simulations.

Historically, R.I.S.E. strategies were prominent in a series of nationally renowned student investment conferences. Today, R.I.S.E. programs include:

  • UD2NYC, an annual trip to The Big Apple during which our Economics and Finance majors tour the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the NYSE, visit major investment and economic research firms, examine potential career paths, and gain a general impression of life in New York City.
  • The Davis Center High School Portfolio Competition, in which Davis Center undergraduates make scheduled, periodic visits to area high school classrooms to teach the students about investment principles and the stock market. Concurrently, the high school students form teams to create and manage simulated equity portfolios within the competition component of the program.

R.I.S.E. programs inject what we here at UD refer to as "practical wisdom" into the educational experience, offering learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
