Accounting
Welcome
Our mission is to educate distinctive accounting students by providing high quality educational programs that combine theory and practice within a Catholic and Marianist environment. We are committed to educating the whole person by integrating learning, scholarship, leadership and service, preparing our graduates to add value to employers and society.
The Department's focus on students reflects the belief that doing so will meet the major objectives of key stakeholders, including those in the accounting profession. The Department recognizes stakeholders have additional objectives and is particularly cognizant of the critical role of employers. In conjunction with the University and School, and in the Catholic Marianist educational tradition, Accounting faculty members provide an educational environment and campus community that develops the student as a whole person ready to enter and grow throughout a productive professional, societal and personal life. The Department expects its students, faculty and administrators to uphold high standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
The Department's educational programs in accounting encompass a wide range of curricular and co-curricular components designed to emphasize the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for life-long learning and the ability to meet the demands of a dynamic global economy. The undergraduate accounting program prepares students to begin a variety of professional accounting careers in public practice and the private sector, as well as other career paths where an accounting education adds significant value. The Department recognizes the importance of diversity and the integration of globalization and ethics within its curriculum.
We have a perfect solution for students who wish to complete the 150-hour CPA exam requirement — combine our undergraduate degree program with our MPAcc program and complete them both in five years or less, or with careful planning in four years. See our Master of Professional Accountancy web page for more information.
Our graduates are in high demand and have exceptional career opportunities.
